The one who calls you by name is trustworthy and will thoroughly complete his work in you. (1 Thessalonians 5:24 TPT)
The life of faith that God has called you and I to live by is risky! It’s a life of believing Him, trusting Him, and stepping out in faith. And if you have been walking with Him long enough, you have first-hand experience that it is a life full of constant exchange: the knowns for the unknowns, the predictable for the unpredictable, the comfortable for the uncomfortable; the certain for the uncertain, and the explainable for the unexplainable.
However, the life of faith comes with a promise: He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it. (1Thessalonians 5:24 NKJV)
We don’t have to know how the details will all unfold or when the timing will come. All we have to do is trust that the One who calls and sanctifies us is faithful to accomplish His purpose for our lives—in and through us! It’s all accomplished by Him and it’s all for His glory.
Believers are not on their own when it comes to living the Christian life. One of the great truths of the New Testament is that Christ indwells the believer. God’s supernatural power is available to bring His will to pass. His name is at stake. Hallelujah!
When God promised to bless Abraham over and over, there was no one greater than Himself, so He swore an oath on His own integrity to keep His word!
It is very common for people to swear an oath by something greater than themselves, … So in the same way, God wanted to end all doubt and confirm [His word] even more forcefully to those who would inherit his promises. His purpose was [and is] unchangeable, so God added his vow to the promise. … his vow will never change! (Hebrews 6: 16-18a TPT, brackets mine)
Victorious Christians have learned to let Christ live through them (Galatians 2:20). Failure to surrender to His very best is the root of a frustrated, dissatisfied, and unfruitful life. Psalm 37:5 TPT is such an awesome verse! It confirms that our risk to surrender to His faithfulness is pure wisdom:
Give God the right to direct your life, and as you trust him along the way you’ll find he pulled it off perfectly!
First Peter 5:6-7 speaks of humbling ourselves before the Lord. This is accomplished when we cast all of our cares onto Him. Choosing to hold onto our cares, worries, and fears are sure signs that we are still leaning on our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5) and trying to make things work by our own power.
Meditating on Romans 8:31-39 below, particularly in the Message Translation, should boost your confidence every time you find yourself encountering situations that are heavy and overwhelming. He cares like no one else!
So, what do you think? With God on our side like this, how can we lose? If God didn’t hesitate to put everything on the line for us, embracing our condition and exposing himself to the worst by sending his own Son, is there anything else he wouldn’t gladly and freely do for us? And who would dare tangle with God by messing with one of God’s chosen? Who would dare even to point a finger? The One who died for us—who was raised to life for us!—is in the presence of God at this very moment sticking up for us. Do you think anyone is going to be able to drive a wedge between us and Christ’s love for us? There is no way! Not trouble, not hard times, not hatred, not hunger, not homelessness, not bullying threats, not backstabbing, not even the worst sins listed in scripture…
And as Andrew Wommack would suggest, “If that doesn’t fire you up, your wood must be wet!”
So, whatever God has called you to do—whatever the next step He’s shown you to take—RISK it by just saying, “Yes,” and keep moving forward. He’s faithful and He’ll do it!
